The sophisticated big sister to Hotel San José on the same street — South Congress Hotel has a stunning rooftop pool with Capitol views, Café No Sé restaurant, and a design-forward aesthetic that attracts the food and creative industries set.
Why We Chose It
The South Congress Hotel opened in 2015 as the more architecturally ambitious counterpart to the San José down the street — 83 rooms with an excellent rooftop pool looking north toward the Capitol, Café No Sé on the ground floor (one of Austin's best hotel restaurants), and All Day bar serving natural wine and craft cocktails. The design — concrete, wood, and terrazzo in warm Austin tones — is notably excellent. Rooms are more spacious than the San José and the service is stronger. A better choice for travelers who want SoCo access with more comfort, though slightly less legendary personality.
