The hippest big hotel in downtown — The LINE Austin occupies a dramatic concrete structure cantilevered over Lady Bird Lake, with multiple restaurants, a rooftop pool, and an address that attracts the creative and music industries crowd.
Why We Chose It
The LINE Austin is a converted 1970s Holiday Inn that Sydell Group transformed in 2018 into one of the city's most energetic hotel experiences — 428 rooms in a striking brutalist building literally cantilevered over Lady Bird Lake, with Arlo Gray (James Beard Award winner Kristine Kittrell's flagship restaurant), a rooftop pool with lake views, and a basement music venue that books local and national acts. The hotel attracts a younger, music-industry crowd and has a buzz that the Four Seasons a few blocks away deliberately avoids. The lake views from upper floors are spectacular. Book a lake-view room; the interior rooms sacrifice too much.
