Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa) opened in 2017 in the grain silo below The Silo Hotel — Thomas Heatherwick's conversion created 100 exhibition spaces across nine floors. It is the largest museum dedicated to contemporary African art on earth, with a collection of extraordinary depth and range. R220 adults. Bo-Kaap (formerly the Cape Malay Quarter) is the neighborhood of pastel-painted houses above the CBD where Cape Malay Muslim descendants have lived since the 17th century — a 20-minute walk from the Waterfront, the most colorful streetscape in the city, with excellent Cape Malay restaurants (try Bo Kaap Kombuis for koeksisters and bobotie).
