Getaway Unpacked Edit

A former German aristocrat's villa on a 300-meter promontory in Anacapri: the most spectacular panoramic view of the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius, and the Amalfi Coast of any hotel on the island. Infinity pool, La Terrazza di Lucullo restaurant with kitchen garden. Romantic, historic, excellent value for the experience.

Why We Chose It

Hotel Caesar Augustus occupies a dramatic 300-meter clifftop position in Anacapri — originally built in 1850 as the private villa of a wealthy German, now a beloved 56-room hotel with the most extraordinary view on the island. From the infinity pool, the terrace, and most rooms, Vesuvius and the entire Bay of Naples spread across the horizon from Naples to Sorrento; the Amalfi Coast glows in the distance; on a clear morning it is a beautiful views in Italy. La Terrazza di Lucullo restaurant serves typical Italian dishes using organic vegetables from the hotel's own kitchen garden. Chef Eduardo Vuolo leads the kitchen. Antique furniture throughout. Excellent value relative to comparable Capri properties.
