Rosio Sánchez's legendary taqueria in the Meatpacking District — the tacos that made Copenhagen realize Mexican food could be extraordinary. Long queues, no regrets.
Why It Belongs on the List
Former Noma pastry chef Rosio Sánchez opened Hija de Sanchez as a taco stand in the Kødbyen Meatpacking District and immediately transformed what Copenhageners expected from Mexican food. The corn tortillas are made from scratch with heirloom masa, the fillings (carnitas, barbacoa, al pastor) are made with the same obsessiveness as any fine-dining kitchen, and the hot sauces are exceptional. The queue is real but moves fast. Also a permanent restaurant on Slotholmsgade in the center.
