Villa Giardino Heritage Boutique

Lovran, Kvarner Bay · Belle Époque Villa · Austrian Secessionist Architecture

Getaway Unpacked Edit

A Belle Époque Austrian Secessionist villa on the Kvarner Bay coast in Lovran — one of the Adriatic's most historically layered small resorts, with the quietest luxury on the Croatian coast.

Why We Chose It

Villa Giardino is a late 19th-century villa in Lovran — a small coastal town on the Kvarner Bay that was a fashionable Austro-Hungarian resort and retains its Belle Époque architecture in exceptional condition. The hotel occupies the original villa with its garden, offering a contrast to the Dalmatian coast's stone-and-summer aesthetic: the Kvarner is cooler, greener, and built around a different (Austrian, not Venetian) colonial history.

What Stands Out

  • Belle Époque Austrian Secessionist architecture
  • Lovran — quietest upscale town on Croatian coast
  • Historic garden
  • Kvarner Bay coast — cooler, greener than Dalmatia
  • Most historically layered small resort in Croatia
