Cours Saleya Morning Market

Street Food

Getaway Unpacked Edit

Nice's magnificent daily flower and food market in the Baroque old town — the greatest market on the Riviera, running since 1897, with socca, flowers, olive oils, and Niçoise produce.

Why It Belongs on the List

The Cours Saleya market is one of France's finest and most atmospheric daily markets, filling the Baroque squares of Nice's old town with flower sellers, cheese stalls, olive oil vendors, fish mongers, and socca (crispy chickpea flatbread) makers every morning from Tuesday to Sunday. The flower market closes at midday; food stalls from 7am. Come hungry and arrive early — by 11am the best produce and the best tables are taken. On Mondays, an antique market takes its place.
