Jamaica — Things to Do

Blue Hole & Reach Falls

Nature

Getaway Unpacked Edit

Two of Jamaica's most spectacular swimming and waterfall experiences — the Blue Hole (a series of cobalt pools and short waterfall jumps accessible only by jungle hike near Ocho Rios) and Reach Falls (a pristine multi-tiered waterfall in Portland, among the most beautiful in the Caribbean).

Why It’s Worth Your Time

The Blue Hole (also called the Secret Falls) near Ocho Rios is a series of cobalt-blue pools formed by a series of cascades accessible via a short jungle hike and rope climb — swimming here, in cold clear water surrounded by tropical forest, is one of the most physically exhilarating experiences in Jamaica. Reach Falls in Portland (near Port Antonio) is equally spectacular — a pristine multi-tiered waterfall of extraordinary beauty that sees far fewer visitors than Dunn's River despite being more beautiful. The final chamber at Reach Falls has a natural swimming hole and a small cave behind the falling water. Both sites require a guide; organized tours from the major resort towns are available or arrange directly in the villages.
