Round Hill is the grande dame of Jamaican luxury — a 110-acre private peninsula west of Montego Bay developed in 1953 by John Pringle and Noel Coward (who designed his own cottage there) that became the Caribbean retreat of choice for American society: Grace Kelly, the Kennedys, Paul McCartney, and Oscar de la Renta (who designed the hotel's villa interiors before his death in 2014) all stayed and returned. The 36 whitewashed hillside cottages descend to a private beach and two pools. The Jasmine dining room and Pavilion bar are excellent. The spa is one of the best in the Caribbean. Round Hill operates on a different emotional frequency than any other Jamaica hotel — the history is palpable in every detail.
