Casa du Lac in Varenna is one of the most recognizable images of Lake Como — a narrow pastel-pink building sitting directly on the water with a terrace restaurant hovering just above the lake surface, looking across to Bellagio in the evening. The 17 rooms are simply furnished but several have direct lake views and wrought-iron balconies. The restaurant is excellent — fresh lake fish, risotto, and regional Lombard dishes on that extraordinary terrace. The location: 30 meters from the Passeggiata degli Innamorati, 5 minutes from the ferry.
