Getaway Unpacked Edit

The grande dame of Montreal hotels — the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth has been the city's landmark convention and luxury hotel since 1958, famous as the site of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1969 Bed-In for Peace (which produced Give Peace a Chance). The hotel recently completed a major renovation, updating its 950 rooms while preserving the original grand proportions. The central Bonaventure station location gives direct underground access to 32km of the RESO indoor city.

Why We Chose It

Montréal’s most famous hotel — the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, where John Lennon and Yoko Ono staged the 1969 Bed-In for Peace in Suite 1742. A $140M renovation modernised the 950-room landmark above Gare Centrale with Marchand restaurant and Nacarat wine bar.
