Today it operates as a museum of his paintings, sculptures, and ceramics, an art gallery, a café, and a hotel. The highlight is the Sunset Ceremony held daily since 1994 — as the sun drops below the horizon, Páez Vilaró's recorded voice plays over the loudspeakers reciting a poem to the sun, and the crowd gathers on the terraces. It is a moving ritual and the single best sunset experience in Uruguay. Arrive 30 minutes before sunset; allow two hours for the full visit.
