Two essential art experiences outside the beach scene. The Fundación Pablo Atchugarry (25 minutes from the Peninsula) is a cultural complex founded by Uruguay's most celebrated living sculptor — a large open-air sculpture park dotted with Atchugarry's monumental marble works, two indoor galleries with rotating exhibitions, an auditorium, and free outdoor events in summer. The Ralli Museum is one of five museums of its type globally, housed on a small parkland estate on the Peninsula — a significant private collections of Latin American contemporary art in the world, with additional works by European masters including Dalí, Magritte, and Chirico. Both are non-commercial and free of charge (Ralli explicitly refuses donations and sells nothing).
