Why We Chose It
The Fairmont San Francisco opened in 1907, survived the earthquake and fire of that year, and has been the most historically resonant address in the city ever since. Tony Bennett premiered "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" in the Venetian Room in 1961. The Fairmont is uniquely positioned at the convergence of all three cable car lines. The 606-room neoclassical building is grand, city-facing views are spectacular, and the Laurel Court lobby bar is a city institution.
