Built atop a volcanic rock above St. Jean Bay by the island's first mayor. Each of the 37 rooms and villas is treated as an art installation; Villa Rockstar has its own recording studio.
Why We Chose It
Eden Rock is the most visually extraordinary hotel on St. Barths and one of the most individual hotel properties in the Caribbean — built on and around a dramatic volcanic rock promontory at the eastern end of St. Jean Bay by Rémy de Haenen, the island's first mayor (who landed his plane on this very beach). The 37 rooms and villas are each individually decorated by artists and designers: artworks, antiques, custom furniture, and theatrical lighting schemes that make every room a different experience. The Villa Rockstar (with its own recording studio) is the most celebrated. The Sand Bar restaurant at the base of the rock is the best beach lunch on the island. The Rémy Bar in the clifftop house is for cocktails at sunset with the entire bay below. Eden Rock was completely rebuilt after Hurricane Irma (2017) and emerged finer than before.
