Scuba Diving & Snorkeling — Soufrière Marine Reserve

Nature

Getaway Unpacked Edit

The finest diving in the Eastern Caribbean — the Soufrière Marine Reserve protects exceptional reefs and dramatic underwater topography: Superman's Flight drift dive down the base of Petit Piton, Anse Chastanet Reef (snorkeling from the shore), the Lesleen M wreck. PADI 5-Star operations at Anse Chastanet and Dive St. Lucia.

Why It’s Worth Your Time

The Soufrière Marine Reserve is considered the finest diving in the Eastern Caribbean — a protected marine area with dramatic underwater topography shaped by the same volcanic forces that created the Pitons above. Superman's Flight is the signature dive: a drift along the base of Petit Piton's underwater wall, where the mountain continues 800m below the surface with black coral, sponges, and the full Caribbean fish assemblage. Anse Chastanet Reef (the coral reef off Anse Chastanet beach) is excellent for snorkeling from shore — one of the few places in the Caribbean where world-class snorkeling is accessible without a boat. The Lesleen M (a deliberately sunk freighter) is one of the Caribbean's best wreck dives. PADI 5-Star operations: Anse Chastanet's Scuba St. Lucia (on-site) and Dive St. Lucia in Rodney Bay. Sharks, rays, sea turtles, seahorses, and trumpetfish on almost every dive.
