Fernandez Bay Village

Cat Island — 15 Villas — Remote

Getaway Unpacked Edit

The Out Islands' most authentic family experience — a family-run eco-resort on Cat Island with a private beach, kayaks, snorkeling, and a pace that makes children put down their phones.

Why We Chose It

Fernandez Bay Village has been operated by the Armbrister family for two generations — a collection of 15 one- and two-bedroom stone villas (some with outdoor showers) on a private crescent bay on Cat Island. There is no pool because the bay is perfect. No TVs because the stars are sufficient. The restaurant serves whole grilled grouper caught that morning. Cat Island is an authentic Bahamian island — few tourists, steep hills (the highest point in the Bahamas at 206 feet), and a genuine local culture. This is for the traveler who has done Nassau and wants the real Bahamas.

What Stands Out

  • Family-run for two generations — the real Out Islands experience
  • 15 beachfront villas on a private crescent bay
  • Whole grilled grouper caught that morning
  • Cat Island — the real Bahamas beyond the tourist circuit
  • No pool or TV — the bay is the amenity
