Before You Book a Sporting Trip
Understand the hunt format
Ask whether birds or game are wild, preserve-raised, estate-managed or free-range; whether the hunt is walk-up, driven, spot-and-stalk or stand-based; and what a normal day actually requires physically.
Price beyond the lodge package
Licenses, gun rental, ammunition, gratuities, bird processing, trophy fees, taxidermy, shipping, transfers and non-hunter rates may sit outside the quoted package.
Confirm firearms logistics
Airline procedures, permits, temporary import rules and ammunition limits vary. Renting from the lodge is often simpler internationally, but reserve the correct gauge or caliber early.
Ask about guides and safety
